FINELUMEN Post-doctoral position

Nanocyl S.A. is a leading company developing activities in carbon nanotubes production and applications. Nanocyl R&D Department employs 20 persons and covers synthesis and purification of carbon nanotubes, dispersion and surface modification of carbon nanotubes, as well as developing products based on carbon nanotubes for their unique electrical and mechanical properties (processing and matrix insertion).

Job Description:
For our R&D Department and in the frame of a Marie Curie Initial Training Networks (ITN) on the preparation of carbon nanotube-based hybrid polymers for electro-luminescent prototypes devices - FINELUMEN, http://webapps.fundp.ac.be/finelumen/index.php, we search for a young Researcher with proven experimental skills in the field of chemistry of polymers.
The objectives are:
- to optimize the insertion of carbon nanotube based luminescent material in polymers.
- to chemically functionalize carbon nanotubes to enhance their affinity with polymers.
- to improve the understanding of the surface reactivity of carbon nanotubes.
- to define key factor in the behaviour of electroluminescent CNT based materials in FED/Electroluminescent prototype devices.
- to prototype new kind of devices.

Education/experience:
- Ph.D. degree in Chemistry/Polymer chemistry/Material science. Experience in prototyping/mechanics/electronics is a must.
- The candidate should be open-minded, dynamic, able to work on own initiative, stress stimulated, result orientated.
- The candidate should have the sense of curiosity, innovation and team spirit.
- Fluency in English is a must.

Mandatory skills:
he candidate must:
- At the time of recruitment (i) be in possession of a doctoral degree, independently of the time taken to acquire it, or (ii) have at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience, including the period of research training, after obtaining the degree which formally allowed them to embark on a doctorate in the country in which the degree/diploma was obtained or in the host country (irrespective of whether or not a doctorate was envisaged). The research experience of an experienced researcher recruited for initial training may not exceed 5 years at the time of the appointment.
- Not be Belgian.
- Not have resided or carried out their main activity in the country of the host for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to their recruitment.

Contract: Marie Curie fellowship.
Duration of appointment: 18 months.
Entrance upon: 1st April 2010.
